Specifically designed for taller backpackers and thru-hikers

The ideal ultralight tent for hikers up to 6’6”, the Altaplex is the perfect place to wait out the rain on the Appalachian Trail or to recover after a long day of bushwhacking. Specifically designed for taller backpackers and thru-hikers, this lightweight tent provides ample head and foot room while still easily pitching with a single trekking pole or tent pole.

Leave one or both doors open in nice weather for a breeze and great views. Close the upwind door to block cold wind, or close both for 360° rain protection. In calm rain or under dripping trees the doors can be left open for air flow without water dripping on the floor space. In almost all conditions, at least one downwind door can be left open for air. For even better rain protection with a door open, use the included elastic cords to pull the screen door back away from the rain spray.

A great fit whether you are a triple-crowner or just out for a weekend in the Smokies. This tent is roomy, well-ventilated, packs down small, can be pitched quickly, and can be set up in the tightest of spaces. Tall hikers won’t find a lighter tent with this much space anywhere on the market.

Features:

  • Taped seams
  • Tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength
  • Storm doors can be opened or closed independently
  • Overlapping storm doors allow airflow without the need for additional venting - no zippers that could potentially fail over time
  • Vestibule has enough space for storing a wet backpack or muddy shoes
  • Rainbow zipper on screen door allows easy entry regardless of which storm door is closed
  • Screen door drops inwards rather than hanging in your way - no need to roll up or secure
  • Tarp overhangs bathtub floor & screen doors - in calm rain or under dripping trees the doors can be left open for air flow without water dripping on the floor space
  • Sewn in 8" tall bathtub floor has plenty of space to stretch out, with room for your gear beside you or at the ends of the floor
  • Mesh pocket conveniently located near screen door can be accessed from inside or outside the tent
  • Dyneema® is naturally waterproof and is not treated with any potentially harmful chemicals such as flame retardants or water repellents
  • Easily repairable - any damage can easily be fixed in the field with DCF Repair Tape
  • All Zpacks gear has a two-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship

One of the few books worth your time
    Format: Paperback
If you want to learn computers, start here. Learning from a historical perspective removes complexity of trying to start with say GPUs - you learn just like computer engineers did, incrementally.

    An absolutely brilliant book
    Format: Paperback
This is an amazing book for the right kind of reader. It's a lot like Euclid's Elements but for computers as it leads the reader through designing a computer from first principles and builds to the point of creating software and adding peripherals. It's an amazingly clear but slightly challenging read. I have given this book as a gift many many times. It's an absolute classic in my opinion.

    Great introduction to Godot 4
    Format: Kindle
I've been writing various types of software for 10 years and was interested in learning Godot for 2D games. This book turned out to be informative and easy to follow and gave me the knowledge I was seeking. I learn best by example, and this project focused book was excellent in that regard. If you have zero programming experience, I would recommend learning something like Python before diving into this book. The book teaches with GDScript, which is Godot's Python-like programming language. There are some minor mistakes in the book, but an errata is currently being kept up-to-date on the github repository for the book. I opened a few issues for things I discovered, and the author added those things to the errata. Keep this in mind if you end up getting stuck on something and are 100% sure you followed the directions in the book. I use Unreal for 3D games, so I have not yet gone through the chapters of this book for 3D games. I wouldn't expect a drastic drop in quality, but for the purposes of this review I can't give any insight on the 3D chapters.
